It is a safety device. It is placed on the cover of the pressure cooker and it signals the presence of the pressure inside the pot, preventing the opening of the handle lever. When the whole vapour will have gone out from the inside, the device will go down allowing the opening of the cover in maximum safety. It is also extremely easy to replace.
